FAQs About Genesis Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most frequent questions we are asked about Genesis’ services

Who can use the service?

Genesis serves the community of Dublin 15 so anyone who either lives or works in Dublin 15 is welcome to make contact with us. We also make some exceptions to people who may have a connection with the area i.e., family living in the area or childhood home.

Is there a waiting list?

Yes there is a waiting list. The service is generally quite busy. The length of the waiting list can vary depending on how busy the service is but can average about 8-12 weeks for adult individual, couple and family therapy. For child therapy, the waiting list is longer and can average about 12-16 weeks. Before going on the waiting list, the client is brought in for an Assessment Appointment and this generally takes place within a week or two. We would ask anyone who is on our waiting list and who no longer wants to proceed with our service to make contact with us to let us know.

Can I refer someone?

You can ring us to enquire about the service but we operate a self-referral policy which means the person looking to use the service must make contact.

How much does it cost?

A small subsidized fee is charged for each appointment and is based on a client’s ability to pay.

Genesis is a low cost service which means that it is based on what people can pay. The maximum fee is €35.00 and it slides down to a minimum of €15.00 per session. The fee is agreed at the Assessment Appointment. There is a €15 fee for the Assessment itself.  If at a later stage during the therapy it is found that the fee is unaffordable, the client can discuss this with their therapist and come to an agreement.

There is also a cancellation fee. If a client does not give at least 48 hours notice of a cancellation, they must pay a fee of €15.

How do I know you are right for me?

The simple answer is to have a chat with us. Before starting with us, you are offered an Assessment Appointment which means coming in and having a face-to-face meeting with one of our senior therapists. The therapist will have a chat with you and will be best placed to determine if our service is suitable for you. They will also determine a suitable therapist for you once the therapy starts.

Can you see me outside work hours?

Yes we can. Genesis understands the time constraints on people and that life can be busy. We operate a day and night service so can offer suitable times for you. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we open 9am – 9pm so the last appointment would be at 8pm. while we open 9am – 5pm on Mondays and Fridays.
